Torquay Neighborhood Plan has a public meeting @ the Grace Murrell Room the Riviera International Conference Centre from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm on July 1st 2013.
The Torquay Neighbourhood Plan is vitally important to the economic future of Torquay.
Getting the plan right will play a huge part in Torquay’s revival from the current economic hardship. In September 2011 representatives from all 16 Torbay Community Partnerships met and agreed to the request from Torbay Council to establish Neighbourhood Forum to lead the preparation of Neighbourhood Plans for Torquay, Paignton and Brixham.
The draft Plan is out for consultation with open meetings arranged for the people of Torquay to have their say on the draft.
Business is part of the community and its voice can and will be heard so long as it voices its opinion.
Torquay Chamber of Commerce urges support for the process and engagement with it.
Torquay Chamber sees Council bow to pressure announcing cheaper parking permits to get shoppers back in Town.
We campaigned on your behalf to have cheaper and user friendly parking charges. Together with other Torbay business groups and the Herald Express we have met with the Council and its officers to lobby on behalf of business. The Council has listened and has confirmed that new parking permits will be launched in Torbay to encourage shoppers back into the town centres.
A ”free after three” permit costing £50 has been created. The new time restricted “free after three” permit costs £50 and is valid to residents only, 3pm to 10am, and covers all Torbay car parks except the harbour (The Terrace) in Torquay.
With new high tech cashless parking system in all car parks and pay on exit machinery in Torquay’s Lower Union Lane car park, the town hall is hoping this will provide the fillip to town centre trade sought by local business.
A new £150,000 system for pay on exit at the Lower Union Lane car park is expected to be introduced at the end of the summer.
The council is also introducing in June a cashless car parking system into all its car parks with users telephoning a number which registers credit card details when they arrive and the payment when they leave.
Car park staff have portable systems which inform them which cars the cashless tickets apply to.
A new monthly permit covering all car parks except the harbour (The Terrace) will cost £42.50; a new monthly commuter permit for certain car parks (Harbour, Shedden Hill, Torre Valley, Union Square, Colin Road, Roundham, Victoria, Breakwater and Shoalstone); a monthly permit for a specific long stay car park would cost £37.50.
The annual car park permit charges stay the same at £510 for all car parks; £480 for the commuter car parks and £450 for one specified long stay car park.
A new three day permit, requested by the English Riviera Tourism Company for people on short breaks, will cost £20. As a Chamber we will continue to campaign on your behalf.
