Rowcroft Summer Evening Network Event – 19th July 2018

The Torquay Chamber of Commerce is delighted to support the Rowcroft Hospice.

Join us in our glorious meadow for a unique networking event.

Our guest speaker, Laurance Traverso from Distinctly Dartmouth, will be telling us all about his brand new local gin; giving an insight into the inspiration behind the original flavours and eye-catching artwork. He has promised to bring tasters!

The lovely folk from Say Cheese will be providing a delicious snack of melted Raclette, and Frobishers have very kindly donated some of their mouth-watering fruit juices, to keep us refreshed on what we hope will be a lovely sunny evening.

There will be plenty of time for informal networking; book now (see link below) for this unmissable evening!

Dementia Friends Champion – Free Meeting and Advice

The Chamber Chair, Susie Colley, has undertaken training and is now a Dementia Friends Champion.  She is very happy to come and talk to anyone who feels they or their staff would benefit from learning more about how to be involved in our campaign to help Torquay become a dementia friendly town.

If you would like to discuss this further, please email:

chair@torquaychamberofcommerce.co.uk or phone Susie Colley on 01803 314600 .

Some people have already benefited from this:

“The dementia training was extremely rewarding, enlightening and a must for anyone in any business.

I learnt so much about how dementia affects people’s perceptions  and how my business can change a few simple things to help those with dementia.

It was an hour well spent !”

Inspirational talk on Dementia Awareness

The Torquay Chamber of Commerce arranged an inspirational talk about Dementia Awareness, which was held at the offices of Boyce Hatton on the Terrace on the 12th February.  As there were so many people who wished to attend, a second talk was arranged later that day.  Both talks were given by the guest speaker, Maureen Chivers, a Dementia Friend who also discussed what is involved in becoming a Dementia Friends Champion.

Our grateful thanks to Boyce Hatton for allowing the Chamber to hold the talks in their Boardroom .

This is just the beginning of the Chamber’s mission to help Torquay become a Dementia friendly town.  To that effect, The Chamber’s Chair, Susie Colley, has undertaken training and is now a Dementia Friends Champion.  Susie is happy to come and talk to organisations who feel they and their staff would benefit in hearing how Torquay can become even more Dementia friendly.
